Description
The MCO-PX semi low-loaders are among the best selling trailers in the product range of Nooteboom. These eight axles have power steered axles that can carry up to 15,6 tons each.
There has already been a model issued by the former Lion Toys in the past. After many years this once beautiful model has considerably fallen behind with regard to modern-day detailing and quality. The base is nevertheless an 8 axle semi low loader by Nooteboom. Reason enough for us as heavy transport fans to spark new life into this project!
After thorough research, we decided to improve the trailer at a whopping 47 points. Therefore we adjusted all castings and developed a completely new mold. The neck is mounted higher to reach the real 1350mm height. The big kingpin is replaced with the small pin as found on Nooteboom models used today. On the neck, the entire deck is overhauled so that is not one complete tear sheet, the deck now has all the right details. Furthermore, the headboard is completely new. It now has the correct shape and height. The plates on the neck are replaced with completely new versions that are also removable and have the correct details. Also, all details such as connectors for the hoses, all the details below the neck such as steering control, boiler, pressure meters, width boards all newly developed and fabricated.
If we look at the trailer deck, we have replaced the balsa wood for detailed ABS as we also see the other Nooteboom models. There are crossbars made under the deck from the front, the table and the back. At the rear, the pattern on the deck has been expanded.
An important and highly visible option are the newly developed spray suppression plates between the wheels. The back is clearly refreshed and now has separate lights, position lamps in the correct scale and form and an optional mudflap.
For the tractor, we have chosen a Scania R164G. An 8x4 tractor with a 2 + 2 axle configuration. We have chosen the heaviest build, with torque converter, oil cooler, large tower and bold diamond plate fenders. A young classic so to speak.
